Movies with "Bird" or "cage" in the title, but really not about birds, just

"The Birds"

The classic Hitchcock film, "The Birds" is the heaviest bird of the films on this list, and largely have to do with birds, of Hitchcock, but never make a film as simple-Birds murderer. "The Birds" is less about birds murderers that by the mystery surrounding his appearance and the story of Melanie Daniels, the wealthy socialite and how the shock horror out of complacency. "The Birds" is one of Hitchcock's films more easily, with little in the way of twists and turns, so it is raw material for a remake. A new version was reported that production starring Naomi Watts and George Clooney, but no further news on the film has been heard since June 2009, with news of the original director Martin Campbell abandonment.

"To Kill a Mockingbird"

One of the best film adaptations of a novel, Harper Lee's story on the South the 1930 United States, about alienation and justice, is often named as one of the most cherished movies of our nation. Gregory Peck gave an historical performance as lawyer Atticus Finch. He was rightly awarded the best actor Academy Award for her performance. In fact, I saw first film in my film studies class high school and was grateful that I otherwise may never have asked for myself. Fortunately, no one has tried a remake of the movie yet.

It seemed a dangerous move, which the American public would not and could not take American director, but this adaptationi / remake of the 1978 film brand French "La Cage aux Folles" was able to gain a significant following and not very well at the box office, despite being one of the films of the era more openly Gay Hollywood. Much of that success can give the model of Robin Williams, Nathan Lane, Gene Hackman and Hank Azaria are actors willing to go beyond stereotypes to create likable characters and realistic. It's a funny, heartwarming and entertaining film, no matter what their sexual orientation.

FAKE I PUT IN MY PLASTIC PLANT BIRD CAGE?

I have two birds chages … a cage with three parrots … and a cage with two zebra finches (the Zebra finchs currently have 3 babies that are 7 days)

I personally would not recommend it. It might be nice and all, but especially parrots birds have been known to bite random things. If the plastic could be ingested to be harmful or fatal. Stick to toys for birds for decoration. Good luck with the babies:)

Can a zebra finch share a cage with a canary?

I have a female canary is about 6 years old and a male zebra finch, 1 year old, who is your partner just died. "I can put them in the same cage or if they quarrel?

It is generally not advisable to mix two types different bird (or animal). However, take it easy and put the cages next to each other so they can get used to each other. The youngest are best suited as above, so keep that in mind. If you decide you're ready, put them both in a cage and watch them! Make sure they do not fight. I never know canaries or finches be aggressive, but you never know. Only go when you are confident that along.

Going Bird Watching In La

Some of you might think that it is impossible to do some bird watching in Los Angeles or in any other city. But there are places that you can visit making it possible for you to enjoy this hobby.

The first is the Arboretum of Los Angeles County. This is a 127 acre garden that is blooming with plant and tree life making it a perfect location for some birds to live on. Here, you will get to see 200 peafowl birds that were imported from India and some peacocks.

Another place is the Los Angeles Oiled Bird Care and Education Center. This is a 10,000 square foot facility that can accommodate 1,000 birds at a time.

Approximately 40,000 children visit this place every year. Guests will be able to see two large outdoor aviaries that house pelicans. They even have a hospital for birds that have been found and brought in for care by viewing the monitor.

You can also visit the Audubon Center at Debs Park. Considered as one of the greenest buildings in the nation, it houses coyotes and about 138 species of birds.

Of course, one place that you cannot miss to do some bird watching is the Los Angeles Zoo.

Examples of these include the Andean Condor, African Fish Eagle, Chilean Flamingo, Egret, Mandarin Duck, Laughing Kookaburra, plush crested Jay, Military Macaw, Red Knobbed Hornbill, Sacred Ibis, Thick billed parrot, Ostrich, Congo Peacock, Blue Peafowl, Common Rave, Roseate Spoonbill, Black Swan, Inca Tern, Lady Ross’sTuraco, Cape Vulture, Cape Griffon Vulture and a lot more.

But if you want to do some bird watching without paying any entrance or parking fees, drive around the city and you just might see some especially around the UCLA campus that is on the Westwood area of Los Angeles.

You may also find birds in the flood control basins of Los Angeles particularly near the Montebello Hills and near the Hansen Dam. Here you will find Nighthawks, Roadrunners, Costa’s Hummingbirds, Cactus Wren and the Loggerhead Shrike.

The Boreal forest is also home to 60 species of birds especially during the migrating season and during the winter. You could see Surf and white winged scoters diving for clams and mussels along Newport Beach or the Golden crowned Sparrow all the way from Canada’s Yukon.

If you like bird watching, you can join groups that sponsor trips and training to their fellow members. Some of them are the Los Angeles Audubon Society, the West Los Angeles Bird Club, the Parrot Society of Los Angeles and the Gold Country Bird Society. Meetings are held monthly. You can post questions by emailing them or visiting their website.

When you bird watching by yourself or with a group, make sure you to bring all the equipment you need like a pair of binoculars, a pen, a journal, a hat, backpack and even a digital camera. You could share this information with the other members during the next meeting so you become an active participant not just someone who sits in the back and just listens to what other people have to say.

The places mentioned just goes to show that it is still possible to do some bird watching in Los Angeles even if it is a bustling city. So check these places out and have some fun.

Taronga Zoo is the city zoo of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Officially opened on October 7, 1916, it is located on the shores of Sydney Harbour in the suburb of Mosman. Taronga Zoo is managed by the Zoological Parks Board of New South Wales under the trading name Taronga Conservation Society along with Dubbo’s Taronga Western Plains Zoo.

Divided into eight zoogeographic regions, Taronga Zoo is home to over 2,600 animals on 21 hectares, making it one of the largest of its kind.

Rustic Bridge in 2009.

The first public zoo in New South Wales opened in 1884 at Billy Goat Swamp in Moore Park, on a site now occupied by Sydney Boys High School and Sydney Girls High School. Inspired by a 1908 visit to the Hamburg Zoo, the secretary of the zoo, Albert Sherbourne Le Souef, envisioned a new zoo based on the bar-less concept. After realising that the Moore Park site was too small, the NSW Government granted 43 acres (17 ha) of land north of Sydney Harbour. A further 9 acres (3.6 ha) were later granted in 1916.

Taronga is an Aboriginal word meaning beautiful view.

Rustic Bridge

The “Rustic Bridge” was opened in 1915 and was one of Taronga Zoo’s earliest landscape features. It was the main way in which visitors could cross the natural gully that it spans. Early photographs show it as a romantic pathway secluded by plantings. The rustic effect was created by embedding stones in the wall and like the Aquarium, its design was reminiscent of Italian grottoes. A tunnel under the bridge that originally connected the Upper and Lower Aquariums has long been blocked at both ends and is also very popular.

Later additions and changes

A critical review in 1967 led to a new emphasis on scientific conservation, education and preservation. New exhibits were built starting with the Platypus and Nocturnal Houses, waterfowl ponds and walkthrough Rainforest Aviary. A Veterinary Quarantine Centre was built as was an Education Centre (funded by the Department of Education). Previous attractions such as elephant rides, miniature trains, monkey circus and merry-go-round gave way to educational facilities such as Friendship Farm and Seal theatre.

In the mid-1980s, a cable car was installed that allows visitors to view the zoo and Sydney Harbour. It runs from the bottom of the park close to the ferry wharf, and transports passengers to the top end of the zoo.

2000 Masterplan

In 2000, TCSA commenced a 12-year $69 million master plan, the majority of which is being spent at Taronga Zoo. The first major master plan item was the Backyard to Bush precinct. Under the plan, the Zoo received five Asian elephants from the Thailand Zoological Park Organisation for breeding purposes, education, long-term research and involvement of conservation programs. The plan has met opposition from environmental activists in Thailand, who blockaded the trucks hauling the elephants to Bangkok International Airport for their flight on June 5, 2006. The elephants along with other Asian rain forest specimens are housed in the “Wild Asia” precinct which opened in 2006 and aims to immerse visitors in an Asian rain forest environment.

A marine section, Great Southern Oceans, opened in April 2008.

Zoo Friends

Zoo Friends offers support in form of volunteers and fund raising for both Taronga and Western Plains Zoo. Members are offered behind-the-scenes experiences at the Zoo and unlimited Zoo entry. Members are also eligible to volunteer to help at the Zoo.

Platypus Birth

In February, 2003 it became the second zoo in Australia to breed the platypus.

Elephant Birth

Luk Chai at five months old.

At 3.04am on July 4th 2009 Thong Dee, an Asian Elephant gave birth to a male calf named Luk Chai. It is the first calf ever born in Australia. Thong Dee is one of the 8 Elephants imported into Australia to participate in the Australasian Conservation Breeding Program. Taronga is expecting a further two calves to be born in the next two years. The baby elephant is a major tourist attraction, with thousands of visitors attending the zoo just to see him.

My house is freezing in winter (low 60) – what type of birds do you recommend starting? I like finches.?

If you get the finches, Zebra or Society finches are very resilient. They can be kept at temperatures between 60 and 80 degrees F. Java finches can do well in colder temperatures, so the decade 60 would be good for them. Star finches can also tolerate low 60s. Do not buy the Lady Gould finches, because they need to be in temperatures high (75 degrees to 80 degrees F) to stay healthy. If you notice any waxbills, Orange Cheek waxbills for example, the minimum temperature that could be housed in is 60 degrees F, though temperatures in the 70s and 80 F are much better for them.
