Squaking Quaker Parrot - please help!?
My quaker parrot squaking not stop every time I leave the room! I know these are called normal contact, but they are getting to be excessive. A great deal of attention, we take out several times a day, and neither my husband nor I are generally produced, therefore not usually left alone for more than 3 hours. Has a ton of toys that are rotated frequently. I tried to speak again to let you know where I am, but can not maintain it for one hour - do not get bored. He tried to cover the cage - this piece does not help. Have you seen the rest of our small house, so you should not have too much anxiety about where we are. It will stay in a playground of birds that do not like. Any ideas? Do birds clickers work for this type of training? I have heard of Misting works ... but he loves water, so this is not going to reinforce the behavior the most? Would it help to get him a companion and this only double our trouble? Thank you!
That's how a lot of birds to do. It is a call flock and you're considered a part of the herd, so that is trying to get back to the pack. Do not hold once you have actually left the house (at least mine or I would never have been complaints from neighbors in my apartment.) I had three Quakers in my life and lived with me during the last 13 years until he died from fatty liver disease. Half of those years were spent in two different departments. Not once I have received no complaints of noise, so I know not to cry all day when I went to work in the morning. Ignore it or simply I'll show you what's going to get results. Now I have three layers and they do exactly the same. When I leave the room, they will start calling me (well, screaming for me). Do not cover the cage - that is punishment and should not be punished natural behavior. If getting him a friend, who will help, because then you will not feel so alone. Quakers living in large flocks in the wild. I KNOW my casts are much happier because they have no other company when I am gone during the day. I do not know if you can handle, but let him stay in the room where you stay. Not just leave him alone in a room while you're away in another room. ALL my birds have always been free to go anywhere in my apartment that I go. I have other pets, so no dog or cat dangers.
