parakeets books
My parakeet's nose will change color. What about that?

I have 2 parakeets that are about 6 months old now. I think one is a child, because the book on parakeets have said that if the nose turns a bluish color, then it is a child. the other is a little smaller than the lad, much more Fiesty, and has a pink nose brown. I know that should mean it is a girl, but his nose has been stripped and turned blue, and then turned back bare brown pink. Does anyone know what that means? Should I take him to a vet? Seems fine, apart from the fact that the nose has changed colors twice. Now same is the nose is pink. Does anyone know what about my bird, and it's a boy or a girl?

This place over his nose is talking is called CERE. In men, it is bluish purple, but women can be any range of colors from pink to brown to purple type. Since its birds are still quite young, it's a little early to say but that is pinkish brown. More than likely, this ia a woman, and she is just going for the mating season, where his brain will get Brown and crisp. Keep an eye on the peak and see what color is most of the time. If it does, in fact, have a male and female, make sure you do not allow them to mate if you dont want babies! Good luck!
