Are you aware that your wings grow back in a few months right? Birds are birds and that make love to fly. However, to stay with you or "behave" as you call, you will have to clip their wings and make you learn to trust be your friend. After a few clips wing, maybe a year or so depending on how often you play with them and decide whether a bond with you, will be happy to fly you to sit on your shoulder while working at home or sitting down to do homework, whatever. Be aware that allowing them free flight also increases risk of losing out the door when you least expect it. Someone can walk, they will shock and out, or (as happened to me) you can leave and forget about the bird is on his shoulder, and off they go! I was very lucky because I could get my cockatoo back when that happened, but not without a lot of tears and he out all night in Michigan in March! The story of how he found me 6 blocks and got it back would take too long to tell, but I consider myself very lucky have come back. As for praising the bird, is the tone of his voice to tell them (at least in principle) that is satisfied with something I've done.
