large finches

What is a good, large bird owners for the first time?
I want to get a bird's REALLY bad, but all finches and the younger they are, well, too small. Macaws are beautiful and I would die to have one, and that last almost a lifetime and would be great to have one by so long, but I read everywhere that are difficult for beginners. So what is bigger, but cheaper, a colorful bird FIRT timer could have? And could you give me resources to research, or tell me about yourself?
How small is too small? Plenty of space between Finch and the large macaw. What personality type are you looking for? You might consider: mini-Hahn-lapa – not as colorful as the large macaws, but good personality, smaller and cheaper. But you can only expect to live about 25 years: Alexandrine parakeet http://www.avianweb.com/hahnsmacaw.html – more larger than that of Hahn, a good pet while you are driving every day: Poicephalus http://www.avianweb.com/alexandrineparakeet.html (eg, Senegal or Meyers) – I would recommend the smaller species such as easier for a first-timer to Jardine, but Jardine is larger. The layer of the UN is even greater and also may be easier, but depending on where it can be difficult to find: http://proaviculture.com/poicephalus.htm Pionus – Eclectus http://www.avianweb.com/pionus.htm smooth and easy, but less playful or stuffed: – full size, which speaks well, colorful, not too aggressive: http://www.landofvos.com/articles/ misconceptions.html
