pigeons to carry messages
Can I use pigeons to carry messages?

I like pigeons, do not have any, I have been mainly in the finches, but lately I’ve become interested in the use of courier pigeons Messengers. I have read that is possible but have not found more information about how. Can anyone help?
Of course you can, but you need the right equipment and time for training. First, you need something to the message to, and a piece of paper that can be rolled up tight easily. There are two containers I have seen use in pigeons. The first is the one used capsules of the leg during the war, and the second, wearing vests for the Express Paloma. This is what they call the small system water use somewhere fast (I forgot the name) in the U.S.. They put a little elastic harness on the bird when its wings can move freely and easily, and there is a place in the rear, where a small film camera housing can fit between the wings. By using pigeons to deliver film to the attic, could get the pictures developed by the time the family returned so they could buy the photos, then instead of waiting. The film container is a little bigger and allows for more writing space, but find the harness can be difficult, and the search for a capsule of the leg. Whatever you do, just do not tie a message to the bird’s feet with a piece string. That did not work and that is uncomfortable for the bird. In fact, it is likely that only the land. You’ll need a loft, the food (at least zero chicken feed or wild bird seed), water and of course the birds or they will not carry the message. The best thing is to get whistles (baby pigeons out of the nest, weaned and can fly, but still have the shrill voice from the back of one) so that the bird is forty not return to its previous owner. For any unflown young birds get, it’s best to keep them in a month (by whistles, no young birds chirp unflown about 6 weeks to be sure) to get used to their environment and know that is their home loft from now. Must have a trap door, or so the bird can get into the attic without having to close the door behind them to catch on (trust me, a pigeon trap doors make life easier.) After 4-6 weeks is over, begins to lift the trap door. Once the birds fly out and start their own will, and re-enter when finished without any problems, training can begin. To save space, here’s a website that explains the formation for you: Pigeon-Talk is a great site http://www.pigeons.biz/forums/archive/index.php/t-8046.html to discuss and learn about pigeons, because there are plenty of experts waiting to answer your questions. If you search the file, you will probably find all you want know about them. Finally, Wacky said, there are natural predators that need to be aware of when the pigeons flying. Peregrine falcons are a problem … in some places. Hawks like the cities because, as the Rock Dove (pigeons in cities), are native to the rocky cliffs. The city has tall buildings, bridges, and ledges, and that is perfect for nesting near the city and catch a pigeon to eat. You can find them flying over open fields as well, but at home, you will find Prairie Falcons probably more of a problem. They like to stalk large agricultural fields, but not as fast as the peregrine falcon. Everywhere, however, the hawks will be a problem. Sharp-shins and Cooper how to fly and hide in the trees like shadows and attack, while Red Tails and other large hawks are somewhat slow and rather stick to more open places. Merlins can also be a problem. There are much larger than the dove is a hawk, but little fast, and even called Pigeon Hawk. Just keep in mind that pigeons can fly out all these predators in the air, if given the chance. Pigeons are more of a risk on the floor or the roof of loft in the sky. pigeons can fly at speeds of 60 km / h in level flight, the acceleration if in danger. Hawks only are about 40, and hawks a little faster. The real danger lies in their diving hawks, Peregrine be 200 mph and hawks others still pretty fast. Pigeons are very intelligent and will become very strong or even just drop like a rock before being discovered and escape just in time. While the home run fast and fly high (as if you normally do on the trip home), should be fine. pigeons are very interesting and anyone who would give them the opportunity to love! pigeons can be trained and conditioned to be racing homers. Pilots can fly back 1,000 miles away in some races, but most of the approximately 700 km and down. You must search the Internet for more information on racing pigeons. Some champions or sons of champions can go for $ 200,000! racing pigeons are built for speed and endurance, such as race horses. They can fly for hours and hours at 60 km / h without stopping for food or water. And listen to this, the rate of a dove resting heart is 400 beats per minute, but in flight jumps to 600! Imagine – being packed into a cage with other birds and being transported to a distant place – of be released with hundreds of birds flying in all directions – flying over the land you’ve never seen before, for hours and hours (sometimes over 24 hours) without stopping for food, water, or anything else – and your heart beating 600 times per minute at all times. hmm pretty difficult? Of course there is much more like a dove that, as I said, there are some very interesting birds. The use of pigeons to carry messages is not really very useful for the average person anymore, since it would to carry with you and the dove release. No mention only returns home, and how many times you have to send something to yourself? Still, I hope you try to breed pigeons, pigeons are either for pleasure, show, or race, or be any of the other 250 + breeds. Whatever the race, I’m sure they enjoy and others attached to them as fans have. If you want to know more about the pigeons (other races, where to get some more history, more websites, training, etc. ..), no Feel free to message / email me:] I’m willing to talk to someone pigeons. Good luck always! – Becky
