Can my American friends help me with this question?

Recently I was watching a DVD of wildlife by Sir David Attenborough and he was explaining about a parrot that lives in the American nature. This bird is dark green, cannot fly very well and coming out at night to find food. makes a sound more like a crow. can American friends, please tell me more about this bird? thanks

I can not imagine what it would be. I have to watch the show. A parrot has been recorded only been indigenous to the U.S. the territory was the carolina parakeet. that became extinct in the twentieth century.
