canaries chirp when ..?

when canaries chirping loudly for a particular song played to say that they like or hate?

Should interest him anyway! My canary used to be quiet in the morning but the moment he walked into view he would start singing and singing with enthusiasm. See his note of birds and their reactions and then try another song and see what their reactions are, if there is something you really like to try and see their reactions then compare what he did during that particular song and see if it is consistent with what he likes very much.
