canaries nest

How can I get my male and female canaries to breed? They have been in the same cage for two years.?

I bought them at the same time, but wern't in the same cage since. I put a nest and nesting material, but nothing has happened.

1. Sometimes, it takes time for them to be ready to mate. 2. Sometimes the chemistry just is not there (as with people). 3. Sometimes you need a large cage, so it is not tight.
