How do I tell a male canary from a female canary?

We have a blue parakeet … a canary about 4 months old. How is your gender? NOTE: I know I will get at least a "look under the feathers" or "How to pee standing up" type of response … but seriously, a good answer might help.

Unless you are able to investigate around "with their feathers" is not a good way to say man women. This means that you will need to take to a vet or a biologist, ornithologist at a nearby college to find out. I think the practice is similar to the determination the sex of a snake when they use a special tool to measure the inside of the cloacoa.
